Viktor “Bell” Tkachenko

Advanced Contemporary Dance Instructor, Choreographer

Viktor Bell has dedicated his life to dance. His passion for movement is evident from the first moment of class to the final bow after a performance. He joined Juneau Dance Theatre after graduating from a prestigious dance institute in Ukraine, where he studied contemporary, modern, jazz, tap, and many other styles. During his training, Viktor performed and competed across Europe, winning top honors in Italy, Greece, Poland, and other countries, as a member of the Light Dance Company. Viktor is a four-time alumnus of the Galen Hooks Method, and he deeply admires Galen Hooks as one of the best choreographers of her generation. In addition to his role at JDT, Viktor teaches private contemporary classes at his home studio, ALASKAN LIGHT. He is committed to his own growth as a dancer and continues to study and refine his skills as a JDT Company dancer, frequently taking class and performing principal roles, such as the prince in Snow White, and Coffee, and The Nutcracker prince, in The Nutcracker. Viktor attended Charlotte Ballet Academy’s five-week summer intensive, subsequently declining an invitation to join the company, due to commitments in Juneau, and has not looked back, since. He believes Juneau to be the best place to share his art and immerse into the community. He is dedicated to lifelong learning, always seeking to expand his knowledge and improve his techniques whenever he leaves Alaska.

Viktor loves teaching and inspiring students to nurture their passion for dance. He looks forward to making dance an enduring part of his life. Since joining JDT's faculty in 2021, he has taught advanced contemporary classes for Levels 4-6 and choreographed several original works for JDT, including "New Season" commissioned for JDT's 2022 Spring Showcase.
