Jovani Furlan was born in Joinville, Brazil and started dancing at age 11 at The Bolshoi Theater School in Brazil. During his seven years training there, he had a vast study program with classes including pas de deux, contemporary dance, Russian character dance, popular French dance, piano, flute, history of ballet, history of music, English and gymnastics.
In 2010, Furlan participated in the International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Miss. and was offered a full scholarship to attend MCB School by former artistic director Edward Villella. He started training at the School in January 2011, and in March of the same year became a school apprentice with Miami City Ballet. In January 2012 he was promoted to company apprentice and five months later was promoted to the corps de ballet. Furlan was promoted to soloist in 2015.
