Megan Lujan

Guest Instructor - Young Dancer Program

Megan Lujan was born and raised in Juneau, training in ballet and other styles, at Juneau Dance Theatre, through her high school graduation in 2021. She was invited to the JDT Company in 2017, by Directors, Zachary Hench and Julie Diana Hench, and performed many corps and principal roles as a senior dancer in the school. Notable roles included Snow White, in Laszlo Berdo's Snow White, Lilac and Goldenvine Fairies, in The Sleeping Beauty, demi-soloist in excerpts from Giselle, and lead variations in The Nutcracker, including Sugar Plum Fairy, Dew Drop Fairy, Coffee, Konfeta, Snow Queen, Dancing Doll, and more. Megan performed in numerous community events, including Wearable Art, with the JAHC, fundraisers hosted by Rotaract, and JDT's own, Juneau's Got Talent. She danced in Orpheus Project's (then Opera to Go) productions, The Cunning Little Vixen, and L'Orfeo.
As a JDT Company member, Megan participated in JDT's outreach education program, led by ballet master, Catherine Fowle, visiting sixth grade classrooms to share lessons in ballet and ballet history, and demonstrations. Megan obtained additional training at summer intensive programs at Colorado Ballet, Nashville Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Juneau Dance Theatre, and was accepted to Boston Ballet prior to COVID-19-prompted cancellation. While a student at JDT, she was a teaching assistant for young dancer classes and a substitute teacher for all levels of the school. A competitive gymnast with the Southeast Alaska Gymnastics Academy, for eight years, Megan balanced a rigorous schedule, competing in and out of state. She continues her ballet training when possible, and has attended JDT's advanced summer intensives through 2023, including performing in JDT's first-ever Summer Dance Concert. Megan currently teaches pre-school full-time, while completing her Elementary Education degree at the University of Nevada, Reno.
Megan has taught various levels of ballet, choreography, and other art classes for JDT, at the Juneau Fine Arts Camp and previous Young Dancer Programs. She loves working with children, and is thrilled to be invited back to JDT for the 2024 Young Dancer Program.
