Sydney Truitt (Égo) is a Tlingit artist, born and raised in Juneau, Alaska. At the age of four, Sydney was inspired to become a dancer after watching her older sisters take ballet classes. She studied at Juneau Dance Theatre in ballet, modern, and musical theater until the age of 17. While training at JDT, Sydney worked as teaching assistant, and was a member of the JDT Company, dancing numerous principal roles, in JDT productions.
Sydney attended the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) for her last year of high school and through college, graduating in 2022 with a BFA in Contemporary Dance. While at UNCSA she performed works by Robert Battle, Trisha Brown, José Limón, Merce Cunningham, Dayna Fox, Ming Lung-Yang, and Yoshito Sakuraba.
